Published By: Dene LeBeau Patient presented with infection tooth #9. (X-rays and figs. 1 & 2) I then referred the patient to Dr. Rindler and he extracted #7,9,10, did connective tissue grafts #8,9 and placed implants #8,9. He also did functional crown lengthening surgery #4,6,13. After implants integrated, we placed a screw retained provisional, but is was long and unaesthetic and had screw access holes through facial (fig 4). Ultimately we placed crowns #3,4,6,11,13,14 and the bridge from #7-10. (figs 8,9)

How did this case go from a situation where the anterior teeth were too short, to just about OK and then way too long after the periodontist took over?? That is very strange.

Good question! Here is my answer. There was significant loss of facial bone due to failing teeth and endos. Once they were removed, vertical bone height was lost, resulting longer teeth.
